Adopt a dog

Adopt a Dog from SPCATNAdopt a dog from us! Welcome to the Tennessee SPCA. This site is used to post animals for you to review and adopt.

The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) of Tennessee is a nonprofit organization devoted to helping animals.

Our mission is to end animal cruelty and suffering in our state and beyond through education, investigation and prosecution. We provide a safe haven and protection for abandoned, abused, neglected and unwanted animals and we promote animal’s welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people.

All our animals are in foster homes while they are waiting for their forever homes. They receive veterinary care while being in our care. One of our important goals is to promote animal welfare through programs and services that mutually benefit animals and people. The programs such as spay/neuter and care for them can only be accomplished through donations from people like you. Every donation, large and small, is important and much needed. Thank you for the part you play in helping us help the animals in our care.

The SPCA of Tennessee is supported solely by donations and run entirely by volunteers. Your donation to help animals in need is greatly appreciated.

Adopt a dog important needs:

The SPCA of Tennessee is desperately in need of fosters for its many rescue dogs. Our kenneling costs have been overwhelming and we try to save as many as we can from kill shelters, but in order to do that, we need more fosters.

If you can help us out or want more information on becoming a foster, please contact spcaoftennesseewith “FOSTER” as the subject of the E-mail, and we will be contacting you to obtain more information.

We also need donations for the following:

  • Beds,
  • blankets
  • crates,
  • dogfood
  • collar
  • leashes
  • frontline
  • heartgard
  • monetary donations are always welcome

Casper’s story:

If a dog can speak he will be telling us his whole life story that must be sad and cruel.

Happy Ending for Little Pearl

Adopt a Dog Pearl

Little Pearl was abandoned on the streets of TN. The SPCA of TN stepped up to save her more…

Update on Polly and her pups:

Dave had a couple of days off this week so we managed to get the pen up so we can move the puppies out of the closet once they get 4 weeks (they will be just 3 weeks on Monday).

In the meantime, to get Polly ready, we took them out outside today just for about 20 minutes. The plan was to keep the gate and all the doors to the house and the back closet open so Polly did not feel trapped. She was pretty upset, started barking at us. Even tried to pick up one of the puppies with her teeth to put him back in the house (they weight almost 4 pounds so it as a no do).

Polly barked, puppies screamed.. it was actually pretty typical for the first visit outside. But the puppies got some sun and Polly did better as long as we stayed with her and finally calmed down before we brought them all back in.

Took some pictures.

Enjoy.
